USF works because we do as faculty and in-unit professional employees. The United Faculty of Florida is the independent voice of faculty protecting academic values, human values, and professional opportunity.

The United Faculty of Florida represents faculty in collective bargaining, in due process, in the halls of Tallahassee, and in the public eye. Membership is how we work together for our shared values.

The most important member benefit is representation in grievances. The United Faculty of Florida will not represent non-members in grievances or any other formal process. Non-members can file grievances independently and hire lawyers for that purpose, but they will often cost $20,000 or more to take a grievance through arbitration. Members of UFF are represented without additional cost beyond their dues if the triggering event for a grievance happened when they were dues-paying members.

Dues are 1% of gross pay (taken in small amount every paycheck), which is a lower percentage of income than most unions. Many members who itemize deductions for income tax purposes list UFF dues as unreimbursed professional expenses.
